Boss's Day 2010: National Boss's Day is the Sweetest Day?

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN - TIME TO HONOR YOUR BOSS ON BOSS'S DAY IN THE HOPES OF GETTING A RAISE

Boss's Day falls on October 16, but unless you have a weekend job, you have to celebrate Boss's Day today, on Friday October 15.

There are many ways you can show your boss some appreciation - you could send them an E-CARD OR A HALLMARK CARD, but you could also get together with your co-workers and buy them a gift for the office.

One of the most popular will no doubt involve taking your boss out for lunch or getting them a gift certificate for their favorite lunch place. Or why not order lunch in to the office so that everyone can enjoy it and then you can hang out with your boss in a more casual setting?

You could always get them something for their desk (such as a game or their favorite candy), that will help keep them motivated while they are working (or drawing up your new contract with your big fat raise).

Generally it is best to stick to generic gifts for Boss's Day rather than personal gifts, but a nice card and maybe an expensive bottle of wine will go a long way to letting your boss know you appreciate them and the leadership they provide.

Boss's Day was started by Patricia Bays Haroski, who registered Bosses Day with the US Chamber of Commerce in 1958 after forgetting her boss' birthday (although her boss was her father so that explains things a little better).

Now Boss's Day may not end up being the Sweetest Day for you, especially if you don't end up getting that raise, October 16 is also known as Sweetest Day, which is actually a day for you to show your sweetheart how much you care and is not related to Boss's Day.

Don't forget to shower your sweetheart with gifts (or hugs and kisses) on Saturday and let them know you appreciate having them to come home to after a long day with your boss at the office.
