THURSDAY, OCT. 21

THE GREAT PUMPKIN FESTIVAL: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today to Sunday, Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N. Galvin Parkway. Take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, where children ages 12 and under may choose their own free pumpkin. Children will enjoy face painting, the Amazing Bale Maze, balloon artistry, pumpkin decorating and carving demonstrations and more. Fabulous Food will offer a baked goods and fall harvest market, where visitors can purchase fresh produce such as unique pumpkins, gourds and chili ristras. FRIDAY, OCT. 22

DISNEY STORE HALLOWEEN PARTY: 4:30 and 6 p.m. today, 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, local Disney stores (Arizona Mills, Fiesta Mall, San Tan Village and Scottsdale Fashion Square). This spook-tacular event will be filled with games, fun and a costume parade. Kids three and up wearing their favorite costume will receive a free gift (while supplies last). Space is limited. TRUNK OR TREAT AND FAMILY DANCE: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA parking lot, 1030 E. Liberty Lane. Bring your kids, your friends and your family out for a fun and safe trick-or-treating environment and family dance. Free and open to the public - just remember to bring a bag of candy to donate. Prizes will be given for the best decorated trunks. Also a costume parade for the kids, pizza and drinks, games and a Sponsored by Jungle Roots Dentistry and Team Orthodontics. HALLOWEEN FAMILY YOGA CLASS: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Joyful Yoga Studio, 3900 W. Ray Road, Chandler. Get in the spirit a little early with a healthy costume party the whole family can enjoy! Gather all the ghosts and goblins for a fun afternoon together that will include a family friendly all-levels yoga class and special Halloween tricks for the kids. ZOMBIE WALK AND ALL HALLOWS EVE FESTIVAL: 5 to 10 p.m., Heritage Square between Fifth and Seventh streets off of Monroe. See the streets filled with mindless, decaying corpses hungering for human flesh. Or become one yourself during the Zombie Walk at 6:30 p.m. and parade throughout Downtown Phoenix. The goal is to terrorize (and entertain) the folks strolling around the Arizona Center, Hyatt Regency and U.S. Airways Center. After the scary stroll, additional adult fun awaits at the Nightmare on Adams Street - also known as the Rose & Crown Beer Garden from 7:30 p.m. to midnight). Enjoy live bands and DJ Larue spinning haunting tunes, a costume contest with cash prizes, palm readers, food and flowing taps. A special showing of the silent Dracula flick, Nosferatu, will be shown outside the Arizona Science Center on a 90-inch screen. Families are welcome at the All Hallows Eve event. NATURE'S NIGHTMARES NIGHT CAMP: 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. tonight and again tomorrow night, Phoenix Zoo, 455 N. Galvin Parkway. This overnight experience will get you up close and personal with the characters and haunts from the Zoo's spookiest event. Enjoy a private train ride, a guided trip through the Howl-O-Ween haunts and activities, a barbeque dinner, creepy campfire stories, up-close creepy crawly animal encounters and late night lip-smacking s'mores. After the camp-out, enjoy a continental breakfast and then let your instructors give you the inside scoop about your favorite animals during a guided morning tour of the Zoo. HOCUS POCUS POPS: 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, 2 p.m. Sunday, Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St. Conductor Michael Krajewski will lead The Phoenix Symphony in a chilling performance of ghoulish favorites inspired by Halloween themes. From Psycho, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Adams Family Fantasy to the Danse Macabre by Saint-Sa ns and Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette, this will be a show guaranteed to spook you right out of your seat! Tickets start at $18. The Hocus Pocus Pops Family Concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Daddies, mummies and little ghosts and goblins are invited to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes for this Halloween event. The concert includes Lemony Snickett's The Composer is Dead, a creepy, murder mystery from the same author of the popular book series that teaches children about the different instruments in an orchestra. This will be an afternoon of tricks, treats and suspenseful music. An imaginative blend of chilling music and spirited fun is sure to spook you into the season. MAD SCIENTIST PARTY: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow, Arizona Science Center, 600 E. Washington St. Parents are invited to bring their little ghosts, goblins and princesses to a fun and safe alternative to trick-or-treating. The Center's four floors of immersive exhibit galleries will be transformed into mad scientist labs exploring a variety of hands-on, ooey-gooey science themes. Activities will range from hand prints to eyeball dissections and more. Also special-themed presentations in the Dorrance Planetarium and IMAX Theater. Arizona Mills offers a fun and safe way for kids and their families to enjoy Halloween with family-friendly trick-or-treating throughout the mall. Kids and families who come in costume will have the opportunity to take part in the costume contest for a chance to win prizes.
