Roseville Galleria Fire Ends With No Injuries

Roseville Galleria, which was held under siege today and set on fire, luckily ended with no injuries.

The Sacramento Bee reported that a young man walked into the GameStop store of the mall and began talking incoherently to employees, ordering them out.

The report said that the man was carrying apack, and police were trying to determine whether it contained an explosive device. The young man allegedly set fire, parts of which were suppressed by the sprinkler system at the mall.

The Bee also said that police and firefighters delayed entering the GameStop and capturing the suspect because of concerns over thepack and its possible contents.

The evacuation of employees led to a massive police and fire response to the mall. The units surrounded the buildings while shoppers and customers moved away from the mall as smoke billowed out of the structure.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect had been armed. The man was handcuffed and could be seen being questioned by police on a mall bench, and is to be transported to the Placer County Jail, a local paper reported.

The 10-year-old Roseville Galleria is the largest mall in the Sacramento area, and is one of the region's top shopping destinations.

Source: http://www.thirdage.com/news/roseville-galleria-fire-ends-no-injuries_10-21-2010
