Columbus Marathon and Detroit Free Press Marathon 2010 Results The Columbus Marathon 2010 has just started this morning at exactly 7:30 pm ET. More than 15,000 participated in this big marathon event this Sunday, October 17, 2010.

Apparently, the starting line was near the intersection of Broad and Third Streets in downtown Columbus and the event was sold out at 5,000 participants. The 2010 Columbus Marathon had a new Corral Start system.

Nevertheless, on Monday we celebrated Columbus Day. If Christopher Columbus hadn t crossed the ocean blue in search of a new world, our sports landscape would look much different these days. In relation to this big holiday event, the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon certainly wouldn t benefit from a different name.

Some professional marathon runners were also there to participate. There were marathon runners who will travel week after week just to claim their prizes.

On the other hand, some professional runners are also present in both of these marathons. There you have the 33rd running of the Detroit Free Press Marathon in where you can bet some of the runners are their first time to participate.

Last year, the Columbus Marathon winners were Matt Folk, Perrysburg OH, with a time of 2:20:45 and Rachel Kinsman, Archbold OH with 2:47:44.

Meanwhile, the two sisters from Canada ended up exceeding their expectations today and one won the Detroit Free Press Marathon. Paula Keating, 44, of Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada finished in 2:52:14 to win the women's division and the women's masters award.

Congratulations to all the winners!
