Columbus Marathon 2010, Sold Out

The 2010 Columbus Marathon is set to begin Sunday, October 17. One of the best marathons is lining-up 15,000 runners, as the old record for people participating in the Ohio event was broken this year. The marathon and 1/2 marathon have already sold out this year.

The Columbus Marathon begins at 7,30 a.m., at the corner of Broad and Third Street. The finish line is located on Nationwide Boulevard, as 3 p.m. is the official hour to finish the race.

Darris Blackford, as a veteran distance runner, wants the event to grow in prestige, by increasing the number of elite runners participating in the event. Since last year, their number increased from 38 to 61, officially registered this year. Part of my focus has been on treating the elites better and starting the process of making this race a bigger profile race among elites , Blackford said.

The Columbus Marathon pays $ 2,500 to winners, $ 1,000 to runners-up and $ 750 to third place. It was first run back in 1980 and its flat course makes it one of the fastest races in the country.
