Singer Eyedea , whose real name was Michael Larsen, passed away today at the age of only 29. Eyedea was a popular Indie/Hip-Hop artist in the Minneapolis/St. Paul music scene.
Eyedea was found by his mother this morning, and she posted the following statement on his Facebook page: It is with great pain and sadness that I tell you my son Mikey (Eyedea) has passed away. At this time we kindly request your respect and our privacy as we process this devastating loss. On behalf of Mikey's family, close friends and fans, thank you.
No other details of his passing were released, but Eyedea's mom has set up a memorial fund in his honor on Facebook.

1. He was a well known underground rapper and freedisabled champion.
2. In addition to his solo career, he was also part of a duo with his childhood friend, DJ Abilities.
3. He attended Highland Park Senior High School in St. Paul, Minnesota.
4. All of his music releases were under the Rhymesayers record label.
5. Eyedea & Abilities were part of the Rock the Bells hip hop festival in 2009.
