Michael Larsen “Eyedea” Dead at Only 28

Eyedea Underground Rapper & Singer Michael Larsen AKA Eyedea has past away at the very young age of 28. His Mother Kathy Averill announced it today via Facebook. As of now no cause of death has been released.

On the Facebook Event Page which is a memorial fundraiser for Eyedea, his mother posted the following message to his fans:

It is with great pain and sadness that I tell you my son Mikey (Eyedea) has passed away.

At this time we kindly request your respect and our privacy as we process this devastating loss.

We do, however, welcome your kind words, memories, and positive thoughts. We have created a Paypal account and are accepting donations towards the cost of his services.

Larsen was best known in the Twin-Cities area, but was known nationally as well. He had previously won Blaze Battle , which was sponsored on HBO, and the Scribble Jam back in 1999.

He was known as a solo rap artist, as well as performing with his longtime friend DJ Abilities in the duo Eyedea & Abilities . Unlike a lot of other rappers, Eyedea's songs usually told stories, and were often times very philosophical.
