Kramer/AP T.J. Lavin lost control of his bike and crashed during a jump at a BMX event Thursday night.

BMX star and MTV host T. J. Lavin is in a medically-induced coma after a bike accident Thursday night, according to TMZ.com.

The 33-year-old athlete was competing in the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., when he crashed his bike while on a ramp.

A video of the accident shows Lavin losing control of the bike, tumbling a few feet and then seemingly not moving as spectators rushed to his aid.

The biker, who has won several X Games medals, ESPN reported.

Lavin, who is also a musician and has hosted MTV's since 2005, was reportedly knocked unconscious and broke his ribs and shattered his right wrist.

He was reportedly taken to University Medical Center, a Las Vegas hospital, where he is in critical condition and experiencing brain swelling.

The latest edition of is only two episodes into its current season (airing Wednesday nights on MTV), but the series is filmed in advance. MTV has not yet responded to a request for comment.
