Sweetest Day: The Ten Athletes You Could Bring Home To Mom

Time for a controversial pick.

The four-time NFL MVP, Peyton Manning will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football. He is also one of the NFL's most recognizable faces, along with his brother, Eli.

With a face that is so recognizable today, it's all the more important that you present yourself in the best light possible by keeping up with what's going on.

Manning never seemed to have that problem, juggling his Hall of Fame-worthy career with his personal life and duties outside of the huddle.

It didn't take long for Manning to become involved in charity. Shortly after entering into the NFL, Manning starting his own organization, the Peyback Foundation that helps disadvantaged kids, focusing its efforts in Louisiana, Tennessee and Indiana.

Following the tragedies of Hurricane Katrina, Manning, along with Eli, volunteered his time and muscle power to assist in the delivery of 300,000 pounds of water, Gatorade, baby formula, diapers and pillows to the people of New Orleans.

It's one thing to write a check and send it, but it's another thing to actually lend a hand in the relief efforts. As a famous football player, he could have made any excuse to take the easy way out, but Manning did not let his fame get in the way of showing how much he cares for his hometown. It's an incredibly noble move on the Manning brothers' part and shows that he hasn't forgotten where he came from.

Manning and his wife also sent an undisclosed donation to St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis which urged the hospital's name change to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent.

Manning's actions have demonstrated that there is no excuse for a well-known athlete or celebrity to get involved when help is needed most.
