Keith Olbermann Update: Should Keith Olbermann Return To Msnbc

KEITH OLBERMANN UPDATE: SHOULD KEITH OLBERMANN RETURN TO MSNBC

Keith Olbermann was suspended indefinitely without pay after it was learned that he made three $2,400 contributions to Democrats without clearing the donations with the network. Now many ask whether or not Keith Olbermann should return to MSNBC. MSNBC President Phil Griffin said that they just became aware of the political donations late Thursday night. There seemed to be little hesitation in suspending Keith as the decision was made in less than 24-hours.

Is something else at play or is this strictly a violation of policy?

What may be most interesting is the statement made by NBC execs defining the need for the disclosure ruling, Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest.

If anyone thought Keith Olbermann was an impartial journalist, they may want to think again. Keith Olbermann has a huge following of liberals and Democrats who share his views. Is there a problem with the reasoning that Keith Olbermann needed to make the network aware of his contributions? Are Republicans truly surprised that Keith Olbermann didn t jump first in line to donate to Tea Party campaigns such as Marco Rubio, Sharron Angle and Christine O Donnell?

Though Keith Olbermann didn t follow MSNBC's rule, the idea that the American public was misled by Keith Olbermann is laughable. The American public knows where Keith Olbermann stands on issues and no one is surprised that he donated to Democrats.
