Zenyatta Breeders Cup 2010.

During the Juveniles Turf race early on Saturday at Churchill Downs, Pluck came from behind to win the race.

Rough Sailing, who was leading the pack at one point, fell heading into the first turn. Jockey, Rosie Napravnik was able to come away from the fall uninjured.

Rough Sailing was then immediately taken off the track into a van and examined. The injury proved fatal as the 2-year-old had to be euthanized because of a fractured humerus, which is an important support bone in the upper leg.

Earlier reports indicated that Rough Sailing had an injured shoulder.

"It's not a fracture that's repairable," on-call veterinarian Dr. C. Wayne McIlwraith told the Associated Press.

Pluck rallied to win the Juvenile Turf, claiming the $1 million prize. Soldat was second, followed by Willcox Inn and Madman Diaries.

Information from the Associated Press and CBS Sports were used in this report.
